Eyes are certainly a crucial sense organ of your body. It is your responsibility to take full care of your eyes, as a small injury in your eyes can lead to major difficulties in the future. With your growing age, the risk of eye diseases also increase.

As the plasticity of an eye is higher as compared to other organs, children are also prone to eye diseases. If you take certain precautions, you can easily stay away from eye disorders.

Some Precautions for Preventing Eye Diseases

If you are a regular smoker, quit smoking immediately as it can cause diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataract. Use sunglasses, hats or other things to protect your eyes from the direct contact with the sun. As sunlight consists of harmful ultraviolet rays, it can result in eye diseases like cataracts and macular degeneration.

Personal hygiene matters a lot in terms of taking care of your eyes. If you put your fingers inside your infected eyes, it can cause several infectious eye disorders. Ignore using towels or handkerchiefs of other people.

Do not bring sharp substances or explosive material close to your eyes, as it may lead to injuries. Always keep your eyes far from harsh chemicals and do not forget to clean your hands after the contact with them.

Avoid light stimulation and never use a bright light to read or write. Always maintain a distance of at least thirty centimeters from the reading material while reading or writing. Keep your body still when you read or write. Never keep on reading or writing at a stretch, as it may cause fatigue. Take a rest for at least a minute while writing and reading.
